What to arrange

During pregnancy, a lot of things come your way. There are a number of things you need to arrange before the baby is born. What you need to arrange depends partly on your personal situation, but below you will find some general arrangements.

During pregnancy, a lot of things come your way. There are a number of things you need to arrange before the baby is born. What you need to arrange depends partly on your personal situation, but below you will find some general arrangements.

From 4 weeks
Register with our practice. By phone, we discuss the most important points and schedule the first appointments. The intake interview usually takes place between the 8th and 10th week of your pregnancy.

4-10 weeks

  • Registering maternity care
  • Sign up for childcare (if necessary)

10-14 weeks

  • Ultrasound to determine the due date
  • Blood sampling
  • Further testing if desired: NIPT and 13-week ultrasound

18-21 weeks

  • 20-week ultrasound if desired
  • Arranging leave: you often need a pregnancy declaration from us for this

22-28 weeks

  • Get vaccinations if desired (whooping cough and flu)
  • Arranging recognition (if necessary)
  • Additional blood test (if necessary)
  • Prepare for delivery; e.g. schedule a course or read books

30-36 weeks

  • Appointment to discuss your birth plan
  • Ordering the maternity package 

37-42 weeks

  • 37 weeks: bed on bunks
  • Giving birth

After giving birth

  • Registration (within 3 days of birth)
  • Hearing test and heel prick by the GGD
  • Registering your baby with the health insurance company
